State Representative Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) announced today that the City of Red Boiling Springs has been awarded $500,000 through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development's Infrastructure Planning Grant (IPG) program.
The funding, part of Gov. Bill Lee's Rural Economic Opportunity Act, will assist Red Boiling Springs with long-term planning for its water and sewer systems—critical infrastructure that supports community growth and economic development.
"This is outstanding news for Red Boiling Springs and all of Macon County," said Rep. Keisling. "Reliable water and sewer infrastructure is essential for our rural communities to thrive and attract new investment. I'm proud to see Red Boiling Springs take this important step toward strengthening their systems and planning for future growth. This is exactly the kind of investment our region needs."
Red Boiling Springs was one of 24 communities statewide selected to receive a share of nearly $7.4 million in IPG funding. The program is designed to assist utility systems serving distressed counties and rural communities, with funds available for water and sewer system mapping, modeling, analysis, asset management, and regionalization studies.
"Critical infrastructure is the foundation communities need to attract new jobs and investment," said Gov. Lee. "I thank the General Assembly for funding this program and congratulate the 24 grantees for taking the necessary steps to strengthen local infrastructure and plan for future growth."
