NASHVILLE – Representative Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) is pleased to announce that the City of Celina has been awarded a $100,000 Downtown Improvement Grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).

Celina is one of 16 Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtowns communities to receive funding as part of more than $4.3 million in Rural Economic Opportunity awards to improve downtown districts across the state.

"This is great news for Celina and Clay County," said Rep. Keisling. "Our downtown districts are the heart of our rural communities, and this investment will help move Celina forward as a place to live, work, and visit."

The Downtown Improvement Grants support improvements to building facades, wayfinding signage, gateways, and streetscapes. Grant recipients are required to provide a 25% local match.

"What happens in rural Tennessee matters to all Tennesseans, and our downtown districts serve as vital economic engines for tourism, economic development and quality of life," said Gov. Lee.
